Jumio Selected by WebSpace Commerce to Help Solve Mobile Cart Abandonment for Magento Sites

September 2013, Palo Alto, London & Malta – Jumio Inc., the fast growing online and mobile credentials management company, and WebSpace Commerce, today announced that Jumio has been selected as its technology partner to help sites running Magento reduce cart abandonment and increase checkout conversion.

WebSpace Commerce (WSC) is one of the leading developers and consultants for the global Magento open source ecommerce platform operated by 150,000 merchants. WSC will be working with Magento sites to implement Jumio’s Netswipe card scanning technology. Jumio’s Netswipe works as an integrated option in merchants’ checkout process to give shoppers a quicker checkout process by using their mobile device’s camera to scan their payment card instead of manually entering their information. By removing the payment friction inherent in card data entry, Jumio clients enjoy checkout conversion improvement of 20% or more.

“Mobile may well be the starting point for many shoppers but in general mobile is just not converting well enough. We have to think differently and create new ways to implement checkout and reduce payment friction for mobile devices. Jumio’s Netswipe is unique as it gives an innovative customer checkout experience and solves the abandonment problem that is building and building in m-commerce”, said Daniel Higgins, Managing Director at WSC.

“The latest research is showing that whilst 68%* of consumers are shopping via their mobile devices, 66%* of them are abandoning these transactions because of the mobile shopping experience. Jumio’s Netswipe turns a fiddly mobile checkout experience that takes on average a minute to key in card data and turns it into a slick 5 second checkout process. This is just one of the ways that merchants can reduce cart abandonment and make more revenue from their mobile channel”, said Bjorn Evers, Director at Jumio.
