Wonder is a digital-first merchant payments and fintech platform that enables businesses of all sizes to pay and get paid effortlessly. Founded in Hong Kong in 2023, Wonder supports merchants across Asia Pacific with an omnichannel platform that allows users to complete onboarding digitally, open accounts, accept payments, issue cards, and manage transactions through a single ecosystem.
Operating in a highly regulated environment, Wonder prioritizes regulatory compliance, merchant trust, and data security while delivering a seamless, mobile-native user experience.

Merchant onboarding in financial services has traditionally relied on manual KYC processes involving extensive paperwork, physical documentation, and in-person verification. These legacy workflows often delayed access to payment acceptance and financial services by weeks or months, creating friction for merchants and operational strain for internal teams.
Manual document handling required significant time and manpower, introduced inconsistencies, and increased the risk of errors and data privacy concerns. As fraud tactics became more sophisticated, detecting forged or manipulated identification through manual review alone became increasingly unreliable. As Wonder scaled its platform across Asia Pacific, these challenges conflicted with its mission to make fintech simple, accessible, and suitable for everyday business use.
“Our vision is to make fintech a simple, everyday operation for businesses, not a complex or intimidating process,” said Ronson Chau, chief commercial officer at Bindo Labs, Wonder’s parent company. “We needed a way to transform merchant onboarding into a secure, digital-first experience that could be completed remotely, in minutes, while still meeting the highest regulatory and compliance standards.”
Wonder selected Jumio eKYC to replace manual, paper-based identity verification with automated, AI-driven verification, biometric matching, and liveness detection. With Jumio, merchants can verify their identity remotely using only a smartphone and complete onboarding in as little as seven minutes—without submitting physical documents or visiting a branch.
Jumio validates the authenticity of ID documents, confirms that the selfie matches the ID, and checks for liveness and validity in real time. These checks operate largely invisibly to the user, delivering a smooth, intuitive onboarding experience while protecting against identity spoofing, forged documents, and other forms of fraud.
By integrating Jumio eKYC with Wonder’s proprietary eKYB platform, Wonder automated both identity and business verification. This ensured consistent, audit-ready compliance processes while significantly reducing manual review workloads and operational overhead. Establishing trusted digital identities at the point of entry also helps secure every subsequent transaction and interaction within the Wonder app.
Since implementing Jumio, Wonder has achieved measurable improvements across onboarding speed, operational efficiency, fraud prevention, and user trust:
These results enable Wonder to scale its platform across multiple markets while maintaining strong compliance, security, and merchant trust.
