With the European traveller loathing lengthy queuing at check-in, it will come as no surprise that an airline has finally provided a solution.
Last week easyJet enhanced its mobile app experience by adding a new passport scanning function. The app now enables passengers to scan their passport details using a mobile phone camera, making it quicker and easier than ever to check in. The budget airline’s ever-popular app has been downloaded over 10 million times, and the passport scan feature has been used by over 1.500 customers within two days of going live.
As much as 8% of all flights bookings with easyJet are made via a mobile device, and this trend is set to grow. For the connected customer, convenience is paramount, and having to manually input personal details, or queuing up to check-in can take up a significant amount of time and cause frustration.
Thanks to Jumio, easyJet customers can now use their phones to check-in up to two hours before a flight in 110 routes across Europe, slashing passport security check time and improving the experience for business and leisure travellers alike.
